The Beach Boys' Greatest Hits Retrospective Episode 18: Fifty Big Ones (2012)

The penultimate episode of The Beach Boys Greatest Hits Retrospective is here! With the Beach Boys reuniting and touring again in 2011-2012, it makes sense that there were many new releases to capitalize on America's Band being back in action!

Looking past the new material (the new studio and live albums) and the big archival sets (Smile Sessions and Made in California), we turn our attention to the standard hits package at the time, 2012's "Fifty Big Ones."

Structured around the group's live set, this 2 CD set tries to take as many of the live staples from the new show and compile them into a handy package complete with faux Polaroids. The result is a fun compilation that, while it brings little new material to the table, is a good look at the group's history and diversity.

great review of 50 big ones, yeah its a good group overview, i do have it nice it had two of the new tracks on it and a nice selection, cheers man
