Chiang Rai is the northernmost prefecture in Thailand. It is about 785 kilometers away from Bangkok, with a total area of 11,678 square kilometers. It is located on a highland of 580 meters above sea level. It was built in 1262 AD and is the only channel leading to the border of Mae Chan.
