Basically ping pong on a tennis court?

actually you CAN jump over the net if you meet all these elements
A) no part of you or your gear clears the net plane before hitting the ball
B) no part of you or your gear touches the net before the ball is dead
C) no part of you or your gear lands on the opponents court before the ball is dead.
...
Here's three legal but unlikely scenarios.
1 - as with an Erne, you jump over the net on a diagonal . you meet element A and B. you then land out of bounds, next to the opponents court.
or
2 - you jump over the net and somehow the ball is dead BEFORE you land in the opponent's court (perhaps you body bagged the opponent successfully).
3 - (drumroll please) ... you have a instantly-deployable parachute on your back. you leap into the air, hit the ball while accommodating elements A and B, then continue to fly across the net plane. a massive gust of high wind comes directly at you while you are mid-leap. you deploy the chute in a fraction of a second. the high wind grabs your chute and takes you immediately back to your side of the net, without ever touching the ground on the wrong side.

If you land in the enemy's court you can't jump over but if you jump over onto the side you're fine

I actually have seen this rule taken advantage of once in person in tennis. It’s INCREDIBLY hard to react in time to actually use this.
