If the Canadian delay is so Americans don’t flood our preorders, ok. If it’s so they can sync our price up to the new US price, the system will be essentially DOA here - $700 is already an oof, and nobody is going to pay $980.

This is such rough situation for the stores. I was in my local Gamestop at 10am this morning and they were getting everything set for preorders tomorrow. They had a list of SKUs printed and ready for all the accessories, they had arranged their strategy with mall security to keep the line orderly. All to have the rug pulled at the last minute.

Canada is definitely screwed. If they raise the price to match up with an increased American cost then yeah they might as well not bother. Definitely will get out of reach for Canadians.

Amazon removed their preorder restriction in Europe today. So you don't need to get an invitation anymore, you can just preorder freely. At least for Europeans it's now even easier to get a preorder, including the countries where the retailers already ran dry.

At this point Nintendo are stuck, they came out and had Doug bowser say that the price was set regardless of tariffs and they had already factored in that cost. So if they raise the price, the shitstorm gets worse, if not, they get crunched on the money factor. At this point they need to bite the bullet and stop playing games and just tell the truth, but it’s not going to happen and it’s going to be a disastrous shit show of a launch.

My poor local Gamestop cashier was fielding 20 people with questions about Switch 2 on Saturday, as they had just pulled down their "Trade your Switch 1" for a pre-order bonus. They said that promo is on hold until they have a date. Another kick in the guts for Gamestop.

They keep saying the launch date hasn’t changed, but thats an ambiguous statement.

If the system launches everywhere else except US (and maybe Canada) then they haven’t lied that the launch day hasn’t changed, but they can still be delaying the launch in the US (and maybe Canada)

I would put money on a delayed launch in the States. I honestly don't think it is fair to our Canadian neighbors to have their preorder delayed. I would rather they just locked it to Canadian residents with an ID and let them get their preorders on time.
