A study in the Journal of Medical Hypotheses suggests that long-term stimulant use, like Adderall, could alter the brain's wiring. There is limited long-term research on the effects of taking Adderall and other ADHD medications, but some researchers have noted potential side effects from extended use.

Potential side effects include:

Nerve Cell Damage: Similar to how diabetes affects insulin receptor sites, too much dopamine over time can burn out dopamine and norepinephrine receptor sites. This hypothesis suggests a potential for long-term damage.

Mental Health Issues: Long-term use can be linked to:
👉 Psychosis
👉 Stroke
👉 Abnormal heart rhythms
👉 General mental health problems

Possible Dementia: One study questions if long-term use could lead to dementia. The theory is that increasing activity and blood flow to one brain area may reduce it in others, potentially causing a decline in brain function over time.

While more research is needed, these potential risks highlight the importance of careful consideration and monitoring when using ADHD medications long-term.

Balancing of hormones and 5-6 days a week exercise - anything you can do- helped me a lot a few years back. The hardest part past implementing the new habit was to keep it up for over a year. A self designed and self instructed/implemented program can be key in this.
We must focus on ourselves and develop self love and self care if we want to deal with our setbacks/ challenges appropriately though. That it seems is something most of us are not taught, do not develop or cultivate

Many thanks doc. Have been considering adhd drugs. Hearing about this in the past, hearing the same be said about it once again, definitely help consider a smart/ Conservative(? )/ wise approach

What other choices do you have instead of these dangerous drugs?? Can special life style changers (diet, exercise, sleep cycle etc.) help manage ADHD-symptoms??
