Dude, the first Top Gun was not great. The sequel was awesome; they made everything bigger, epic and cinematic; it could only be made with today's tech; that's what made the movie. Tom Cruise is Hollywood, Hollywood is Tom Cruise, there's no hidden agenda; no one was talking about Tom Cruise's acting, the role didn't ask for award-worthy acting in the first place to be snubbed.
