I've painted all my life. I consider myself a fairly accomplished painter technically. I know how to use the different media. But I am kinda surprised at how good his portraits are. I'm a democrat but I try to be open minded and this makes both seem more human and works against the polarization so prevalent today. Come on, we're all Americans. Rather be a Russian than a Democrat? Really?

Presidents of my lifetime up to Trump. Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr., Obama - Every one of those men would jump off a cliff to save his people. Donald Trump - I'm not sure he would interrupt his breakfast to save his people.

My respect for Bush has increased superficially after seeing him in discussion with Clinton on John Snow, however his undisclosed role in 9/11 makes me no fan. I pray that his optimism for the future is well founded, as right now, events he helped put in train mean things don't look too good.
