Arduino (Uno R3) Starter Kit Unboxing and Review

Just my review of the Arduino starter kit. This kit is aimed at those who are new to the arduino platform or micro-controllers in general. In this video I give a description of the kit, my experiences with it, and some general pros/cons.

The "gels" are actually just three little colored translucent strips. They are red, green, and blue. Placing them on the photo-resistors restricts the corresponding portion of the light spectrum producing different values even with the same overall exposure.

They are used in a project where you change the color produced by an RGB LED based on the input light. It's pretty fun.

Thank you. This was a really helpful unboxing video. However, for your future videos I would suggest that you set the camera focus at one point and stick with it. The blurry picture and the camera-noise really annoyed me. If you used some still pictures or just had multiple components filmed at the same time you could've cut the length of the video by half and also get more views. Just some my thoughts. Anyway keep up the good work!

Forget the kit, I want to be known for using continuous autofocus in all videos which require it to be turned off!

So my daughter wants to build a robot that changes color or lights up when a person walks by for her science project. Would this kit be good for that?

It is still listed on the arduino store, however it is listed as sold out and has been for a very long time. Given that manufacturing is switching to the Leonardo platform, it is relatively safe to assume these kits are no longer in production.

Looks like your right. They were sold out for a fairly long time, which lead to rumors they were no longer in production.

Hopefully they changed the book binder they use. It came apart on my first time through it. The only drawback to an otherwise awesome product.
