we just need to go back to traditional judo and stop with the limitations and rule changes every year. Can anyone imagine football or basketball changing their rules annually? Who cares if it's an Olympic sport or not? When I go to the gym to practice judo, I don't care if it's an Olympic sport—I go to learn Kano's martial art, not what a few out-of-shape bureaucrats decide in their offices.

The "head" rule is a good change, and allowing grips on the skirt. But not convinced by much else. So much missed opportunity - Kodokan got it right

This sucks. The Kodokan took a much bigger step in the right direction. I'm so done with the ruining of the foundational principles of Judo because the wildly incompetent Olympic Comittee said it was too similar to Wrestling.

The 'new' IJF rules are a step in the right direction, yet still a disgrace to Japan and Kodokan. Sports evolution isn't always wrong, but this is nothing but judo politics.

It makes sense to not use the belt as an artificial line for where gripping is allowed and where it is not.
But now we have the "leg line" as an artificial line...
This makes for a bigger number of valid grips, but you will probably get very similar problems now - just a little lower on the body

Judo has become much like T.K.D., a completely watered down version of what it originally was. Old school Judokas were much more rounded than current gen. A shame....
