I hope they don't hit us with Blood and Cheese in the first episode. I want to see more of the aftermath of what Aemond/Vhagar did and how all the Greens react to it. Plus I think we need an emphasis on Jace up North too. It's fine if they have Daemon plotting the revenge etc, but let's not just jump from one big event to the next.

I feel like the show hasn't developed Helaena enough yet outside of, "I'm really awkward and spout prophecies at random" to drop the tragedy of 'Blood and Cheese' yet. I hope the first episode gives her character more screen-time with the kids before hitting us with that scene.

The thing I like about House of the Dragon is that every single one of the main cast is either a degenerate or an outright monster. I don't have to pick sides; I can just enjoy watching the whole barrel of scumbags try to stab each other in the back without worrying about who gets killed or screwed over--a luxury I didn't have with Game of Thrones.

Yeah well, Fire and Blood part 1, this relatively small, yet hugely significant part of the book was always going to be extremely difficult to adapt to the small screen. HOTD relies totally on the abilities of the writers and Condal who is at the helm and what he can do with a short 2nd season.
I would suggest that we simply have to put aside what we have read and what we thought we knew and understood. Perhaps "the night is dark and full of terrors" is not the case for HOTD as it ended up being for GoT.

I will rage if they cut Maelor. Framing B&C as another sexist incident is straight up character assassination, especially when Helaena has had barely any screentime nor characterization in the few scenes she's had. I know people are going to say the Greens deserve it, which is a messed up to say about an innocent six-year-old child. This change would make audience reception even worse and completely off from what its meant to be. Plus removing Maelor would ruin Tumbleton.

Viserys ruled the 7 kingdoms. Daemon ruled Kings landing, so security wise the Greens were stupid to stay in Kings landing. Unless the issue was how to maintain the dragons
