This short is from part 197 of my Skyrim playthrough on legendary/survival. You can find the full video here:

Or, watch the entire Let's Play from the beginning right here:

Summoning Durnehveir is the coolest imo. Not just the actual summoning, but knowing that every time you bring him to tamriel you're doing him a solid, and getting soul tear in the process.

The only time I used Storm Call outside of plot relevance was when I was doing the Markath forsworn quest and the guards came to arrest me. I instead resisted arrest and flew the city with the aid of this shout. That was badass as hell.

All jokes aside, "the cool thing is actually useless" is the elder scrolls motto

In every game, the fastest most effective way is always to spam attack and chug potions.

That or do a 100% damage reflection build and than you don't even need to play the game anymore.

Kyne's Peace will instantly kill the birds, ironically

Honestly the most useful shout turned out to be the very first one you learnt. The amount of times I've shouted someone off my ass to get away from death is unreal.

Despite being animate and dropping craftable loot when killed, the birds in any bethesda game for the most part are concidered props and not living NPC's, that way hostile NPC's or some glitch doesnt lead to companions or enemies trying to kill birds for 8 hours in game. The Storm Call should specifically targets anything classed as a living NPC, as such birds are excluded.

You could probably mod to change this but I wouldnt.

Storm call is awesome when you’re fighting multiple enemies (other than birds).
The downside is that it also hits your allies and they will blame you.

*dragon born shouts, some dude in the distance screams* "victory is yours, I submit!" Poetic

I would’ve used Unrelenting Force in that situation but that would be too easy lol

I love using this shout to mess with the holds. One shout and literally everyone within a five mile radius comes for your head 😂

I wouldn’t call it worthless, but it could have definitely been better. Storm Call has saved me quite a few times XD

It’s such a cool shout, but for some reason it also attacks friendly NPCs and followers, so you cast it and it kills your follower because the dmg counts as your own.

The reason this doesn't work is because those birds aren't actually character/NPC entities (I forget what Skyrim calls them) while they're flying, they're actually only an animated object. But they have a hitbox trigger where, when hit (by an arrow for example), their object model will be replaced by an entity model at the same position, which will then drop to the ground and will potentially have loot.

Just a reminder the hawks in skyrim are part of the environment and not an actual NPC so basically it's a prop set along a movement path with a health bar

I only use Storm Call when I’m isolated from any NPC that I care about

When I did my greybeard playthrough, the only time I found this shout useless was inside a dungeon.

If on PC I always recommend getting better Storm Call mod it makes it work and not attack every NPC but also doesn't make it broken.

The moment he said “stoooorm caaall.”, I immediately thought, “oh shit, this won’t end well. Ima go before the Penitus Occulatus show up.”

The almighty bird gods are amused at your attempts to harm them.
