Ruben Amorim has been Manchester United manager for just over three months, and things don’t seem to be going that well. But is it possible to judge Amorim yet? And if so, how?

Joe Devine is joined by Jon Mackenzie and Mark Carey, Senior Data Analyst for The Athletic, to answer those questions by digging into the data.

Great insightful thoughts with data about Man united. I hope one of they executive personnel will stumble to this video.

United have basically made the same mistake for about 12 years:

1. Sign manager of questionable tactical suitability and aptitude.
2. Recruit half of the squad they need for tactics, and demand they get best out of previous failed signings.
3. Fire manager when manager fails to find success with incoherent squad.
4. Go back to step 1.

Hold on, that bit about United build up against Liverpool. Was it not balls into the channels behind Liverpool that caused them the most problems? That Maguire attempt was just poorly executed but doesn’t mean it was wrong to attempt it.

Give him time. He’s trying to improve how the squad play and create a style that challenges for the title. Not picking a style that works for the current players. Like past managers.

Why are you comparing one managers final games with a new managers 1st few games 🤔 considering the new manager starting has to undo the old mangers issues. Also the old manager is in his final games having 2 years at the club 🤷‍♂️ rather compare ETH 1st 13 games when he joined vs Ruben 1st 13 games if even worth it…

Now imagine that the problem is not the players or the manager, but the owners... I know, crazy idea

I find Mark very difficult to listen to. Monotone. Not concise. It’s all just a bit dreary.
