What is the Best Computer for editing 4k videos in 2020? – Broken Dell Laptop Hinge

I need to upgrade my Dell Inspiron 7559 laptop. The left hinge is broken and editing 4k videos, especially Apple’s HEVC H.265 format video is incredibly frustrating. This Dell laptop has been an excellent tool for both my part-time wholesale photography business and my YouTube channel since I purchased it almost four years ago in November 2016. At that time, I had retired from my full-time job and we were preparing to sell our house and move from Virginia to Washington State to be near our families. So, I needed a powerful laptop to continue editing and posting videos on my YouTube channel and to make prints for my business while living on the road and in our RV. But now that we have settled down in Sequim, Washington, I no longer need a laptop. Maybe a desktop would be a better solution. Any suggestions?

The software I use for editing videos is Adobe Premiere Pro CC (Creative Cloud), and I use Photoshop CC to edit and print images for my business. I subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud so that I always have the latest software updates.

This is Adobe’s recommended specifications for running Premiere Pro on Windows:

Processor: Intel® i5-4590 / AMD FX 8350 equivalent or greater
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 970 / AMD Radeon™ R9 290 equivalent or greater

Thank you for visiting my channel, watching this video and for your comments and suggestions!

Editing and rendering 4K video is a very heavy load, and for this you need a powerful computer. For such a task, a laptop will be a very bad choice, since powerful laptops are VERY expensive, but at the same time their power is still insufficient. Better and cheaper to buy a powerful desktop and an inexpensive and compact ultrabook for travel. I did just that and am very pleased.

I would recommend that you pay attention to the desktops on the based on the AMD Rizen 3900x processor, 32GB of RAM memory, and the Nvidia 2060 (or 2070) video card, at the moment this is the best choice among powerful home desktops in terms of price / performance for such tasks, and at the same time inexpensive.

Such a desktop assembly, including a case, a power supply, 1TB SSD and 8TB HDD, but not including a monitor, will cost about $ 1700, and approximately $ 350-400 for a 27 inch 4K monitor. But I use a 55-inch 4K TV as a monitor ($500) - it’s much cheaper than using several conventional 4K monitors

in terms of power, such a system is at least 5 times faster than your Dell Inspiron 7559. If necessary, I can advise an even faster system - but it will just be more expensive. And when choosing very powerful systems - the price rises faster than productivity growth.
