The thing is, you have to finish the aranara quest for smoothly exploring the map. There are so many tunnels and hidden waypoints locked behind it.

Yeah, he had the option to not leave. But he was probably breezing through dialog, tbh, the Quest itself is awesome, lore is SUPERB, but no voices, a lot of reading to do, a lot of people aren't that patient, me included. Oh boy ADHD

the most annoying part is when you actually wanna follow the story and read through everything but they start talking while you fight random monsters, so you don't understand a single thing, because there's no voice over. Really bad choice

Ways to avoid this happening;
1. Read
2. Explore the area while you're doing the quest, that way you finish the quest as you also finish sweeping the entire area.

I went with 2. Didn't even have to read. I guess it pays to be distracted by every single puzzle and chest you meet on the way to the quest.
