At least five people have been killed and more than 30 injured in a Russian missile attack on a residential apartment block in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, one of the largest attacks on the city’s civilian infrastructure since the start of Russia’s invasion last year, officials said.
Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported on Thursday that at least four people were killed in the attack which destroyed the third and fourth floors of an apartment building. Rescuers were working to reach those still trapped under rubble, he said.

Al Jazeera’s Rob McBride reports from the capital, Kyiv.

5 people is not too many deaths in a war zone especially when the fight is against mighty Russia.

While most Americans might not care, and to some extent Europeans, Russia has not been targeting "civilian infrastructure". What purpose would that serve? Why use expensive, precision strike weapons against an apartment building? Particularly when, according to NATO, Russia is just about running out of everything. I know most people don't stop an think critically about that, it's all just about the emotional knee-jerk reaction and virtue signaling to the headlines. I bet a few more people in their comfy suburban U.S. homes watched this report and slapped a Ukraine flag sticker on the back window of their Honda minivan to show their support...

Having been in combat zones, and seeing up close what goes on in a lot of these things, I can safely say what the media reports is seldom correct and often times just made up quoting "sources" that are "close" to it all. Reality is grimmer and darker. The Ukrainian military has begun storing ammunition and equipment in civilian buildings like factories, stores, and so on. They are using civilian hospitals as military hospitals. They are housing soldiers in apartment buildings. Why? Well, for one thing, they aren't safe out in the open or on military bases. Russia simply obliterates those locations.

Russia has warned, and even Putin himself has said countless times, that civilian infrastructure becomes military infrastructure, and thus subject to attack, once the Ukrainians begin storing equipment and personnel inside those buildings. It's a very bad position to be in for Russia, because they're left with little alternative at that point. Ukraine on the other hand, and all the western journalists, can set their hair on fire and decry Russia as being a genocidal power that's "targeting civilians". Well, that's not quite accurate as I said. These people being interviewed should put their sorrows where they belong: their own government.

The only side that has indiscriminately murdered civilians has been the Ukrainian military and police. One of the main reasons this whole war started was because after the coup in 2014 that brought Zelensky to power under the guiding hand of the U.S. State Department, ethnic Russians in Luhansk and Donetsk became increasingly persecuted by ethnic Ukrainians and other slavs as has been historically the case for a millennia. The cultural conflicts in the Balkans and eastern Europe that result in "ethnic cleansing" has happened in Ukraine regularly for a long long time. But Zelensky took it to the next level. And eventually, Russia was forced to step in. Then NATO and America stepped in, and over the past year, the "war of silver bullets" (i.e., 'this will be a game changer for Ukraine' weapon systems that never change the game) has brought us to a point I never dreamed I'd see in my lifetime: a real and fast approaching possibility of war with Russia and nuclear war at that.
