Let's go back to the very beginning.

Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings is a real-time strategy game developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft. It is the sequel to Age of Empires, and was originally released for Windows on September 27, 1999.

The game largely leaves the concept of its predecessor intact and uses the same engine, but moves its setting from ancient times to the Middle Ages. Civilisations, units, and structures are changed accordingly.

Age of Empires II comes with five campaigns that follow William Wallace, Jean of Arc, Saladin, Genghis Khan, and Frederick Barbarossa. More campaigns, civilisations, and technologies, would be added in its expansion pack, Age of Empires II: The Conquerors.

The game received widespread critical acclaim. Age of Empires II would later be ported to the PlayStation 2, re-released in 2013 as the updated Age of Empires II: HD Edition, and received a major overhaul in the form of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition in 2019.

I remember buying this new, in a shop, and going home and loving it for months. Great game.

Oh, thats a very good choice of game. But what made you decide for the Original, and not the Definitive Edition?
