I always tell the story of watching “Saving Private Ryan” in the theater, the day it came out. It was sold out and there were many veterans. After the landing on Omaha beach scene, a few walked out. When the movie ended, no one moved; you could hear a pin drop actually. All you could barely hear was these men crying very quietly. After a while, the lights finally were turned on and people started to, very slowly and quietly, walk out of the theater, as if it was a funeral. It’s the only time I have felt a sensation of solemnity in a movie theater. It was very moving.

Not gonna lie, the hunkered down in a soft building triggered bad memories. Everyone in that room is constantly in a 'we wont make it, but we'll take as many as we can' mode.

I can’t speak to this movie, but as a 10th Mountain infantry vet from 2004-5. I can tell you the scenes of what it looked like over there gave me chills. Like the streets, houses, etc

6 tours. The war happened, and no one cares. We went home. I saw more heroes that never got one medal. I saw the footlockers with men’s name taped on them. I saw flag draped silver coffins in the sterile belly of a transport plane. I came home. Don’t fight a war if you don’t intend to win.

My son did a tour in Iraq attached to a special forces unit. By the grace of God he made it back home physically intact but was diagnosed with PTSD. He left the better part of himself overseas unfortunately. It took him at least 10 years to finally get himself together. Thanks to all who served, to those who came home and to those who didn't 🙏

looks great. wish they would make a movie about a conventional unit though. those stories deserve to be told too. feel like everything is all SF and SEALs

That early push was hard. I was combat arms for 20 years and best friends with a Marine. The shit never leaves you. GWOT guys will always have nightmares and for those of us that made it through the darkness will prevail. Keep your head up and stay vigilant. Wear your scares as a reminder that when shit gets hard it can always get worse. Good luck and God Bless

I wish our veterans got the support they deserved instead of being shoved around the VA office. The entire conflict just got our best and brightest blown up or riddled with PTSD, really just all for nothing.

As a combat veteran. Watching this has raised my anxiety levels.

When you hear the old men talk that fought WW2, they often talk about not knowing their enemy, but shared the same patriotism for their respected country.
Many of the soldiers from this war, talk about the surprisingl, determination and skill that the enemy possessed. Those fighters like the fighters of the second world war were protecting their own country fiercely.
It’s a damn shame that we are given an opportunity to live on this planet, only to fight such bloody wars.
Heaven let the men who died and the ones who still live, find peace .

Back in 2003, I arrived in theatre a couple days after “Shock and Awe” with my recon unit (46 ERS). The shit I saw from the drone feed was wild back then. However, nothing compared to how much worse the hostilities became in 2005-2007. This will stir the memories for many.

I was in iraq 2006 2007. Still dealing with trauma almost 20 years later and now we got movies coming out. I feel bad for liking prior films from previous wars. It does stir up enough feelings that I feel uncomfortable seeing it. I get honoring the fallen and in a way this movie will tell their stories but again just not sure if I will see it. Certainly not in theatres.

I feel the bond they have for each other in this short trailer... every man is a brother!

Having served in the army as infantryman, been to Iraq, I cannot watch these movies. No matter how hard they try to make it accurate, they will always be off and unrealistic.

Unreserved and deeply heartfelt thanks tendered to all those men and women that lived, and died, in that godforsaken desert.
