The Last Day of The Butcher of Prague (Reinhard Heydrich) - ANTHROPOID Operation Finale

In this video, we will show you the chateau where the infamous Butcher of Prague, Reinhard Heydrich departed from on the last day of his life. We will visit the place where the paratroopers from the Anthropoid operation have ambushed his car and will go to the church where they later hid.

Reinhard Heydrich is known as "The Butcher of Prague", "The Man with the Iron Heart", "The Blonde Beast", or "The Hangman". Heydrich was one of the highest-positioned men of SS as he was the leader of the Reich Security. Above him stood only Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler.

The Anthropoid operation was the largest achievement of the Czechoslovak resistance during WW2. Jozef Gabcik and Jan Kubis are national heroes.

Thanks for this. I've read that, even though Heydrich had a huge state funeral as a send off, a lot of the SS personnel were relieved that he died including his boss, Himmler. They were afraid of him. He was that ruthless.

Fascinating detail. And yes, imagine having this notorious mass murderer becoming your neighbor in your quiet little village.

Heydrich died from blood poisoning caused by the horsehair in his Mercedes upholstery entering his wounds. There have been at least 3 movie versions of Anthropoid, the two most recent were accurate in where the attack took place (Prague 8) but the 1st version, Operation Daybreak, depicted it in Radlická in Prague 5. I know this because, when the actors playing the assassins are running and cycling away, you can see the footbridge which goes from Radlická to Smíchovské Nádraží in the background.

I really enjoyed this video as it contained such much information I was not aware of. I visited Prague and your beautiful country in 2019. I remember walking past the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church and seeing the bullet holes. Immediately I was reminded of the heroic actions of Gabčik and Kubiš. Your English is absolutely fantastic by the way. This is one of the most informative videos I have seen on this subject. Showing Heydrich's residence was like a trip back in time. I had heard about his kid getting ran over and to see the pace where it happened was astonishing. I'm not trying to sound mean but that house is historic. Just seeing the driveway and road that he took his last ride on is big time history. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Fascinating ! I never knew about the legend of wearing the crown. An interview with the still living son would be incredible, I hope he interviews before time takes him away. So many would be interested to hear what he has to say ..

Heydrich's brother was in fact conscientious and totally against his brother's actions. Heydrich was obsessive and the rumors of his father's origin never faded completely. In a way, he was fighting the people whose blood was likely in his own veins.

It´s really nice to see that the new generation has overcome the past. I´m from Munich and really love the Czechs. Super friendly people with an amazing culture and history. Only their language is a challenge. Already trying since two years, but I think it takes a whole life time to speak it fluently.
