The house has also been the location for many films and period dramas - and the beautiful interiors were most recently on screen in the Oscar-winning film, 'The Favourite'.

I visited Hatfield House with my late husband many years ago. I live in Egypt now and I have a paperweight I bought at Hatfield House of the portrait of Elizabeth in the Rainbow Room. It is sitting on my table as I write this.

This is interesting! I'm writing a story about a girl in a magic world who is going to be staying at a palace and you're giving me some really good ideas.

Particularly about how big a room would need to be if one of the magical inhabitants happens to have a 35 ft wingspan so now I have a little bit more of an idea.

The irony being of course that she's lived a kind of a rough life out in the magic world and she's not really accustomed to being on such a nice place since she was a few years younger and her best friend is living as a prince now.

But I devour anything that gives me inspiration and the ministry galleries give me the idea of where they would have their music.

Obviously when the magic birds -Griffin's and the like- go to the all brother going to send in fancy nest box and the queen is going to have the best of it all.
