#11, or rather #1A: The word Philistine derives from Hebrew (romanized) plural Pəlīštīm; which entered to other European languages via Koine Greek rendition Φυλιστιείμ (romanized: Phulistieím; Latin: Philistaei), cognates in Akkadian Palastu and Egyptian Palusata. It was an exonym - how others called them and it is unknown what was their endonym i.e. how they called themselves. The Hebrew name Pəlīštīm literally means "INTRUDERS" or "OUTSIDERS". Isn't it ironic?

The only minor detail skipped seems to be that "Philistines" is really the Greek version of the Hebrew word for "invaders", so those people's proper name wasn't even used in the Torah, just called "invaders" by the Israelis.
I'm reasonably certain why that the name "Philistines" stuck, it's because the early Roman Church used a Greek language (Hellenistic Judaism) version of the Torah when translating it into their Latin "old testament" and the word wasn't translated into Latin, most likely being confused with a proper name for those invaders and just transliterated instead.

Ironically the Hebrew for "Philistine", "פלישתים", come from the root word פולש "polesh", which means: "to intrude, to invade". So if Palestine is derived from the name Philistine--it's perfectly fitting for the Arabs as they invaded our Holyland.

I only wish you had indicated that Hadrian renamed Israel "Syria -Palestine" in the 2nd century AD, which should stop anyone from calling Yeshua/Jesus a Palestinian, besides the fact that the New Testament clearly shows he was Jewish, it's a gross historical error, unless those people also claim he lived in mid second century!
