I think it's a common problem. Sound-wise, there's no problem with my Clip 4. But I really hate the rubber strips peeling off. I only use my speaker in my home office. For a product meant to be carried wherever, that's a big issue.

I'm returning mine because I only have for 1 wk, those straps are coming apart on mime as well & the sound doesn't really blow away my budget clip speakers nor my Baby Boom. The large clip is handy but I add on something similar from Lowes to any speaker. The clip also won't play simultaneously with other speakers unless you have a new premium phone with that feature, so I'm returning to TJ Maxx in box with receipt as that $44 looked good right now. I may buy a $100 louder speaker whenever I can find at half price. I use speaker volume to alert motorists & walkers that I'm jogging through or ebike riding through.

Mine just stopped connecting to the phone without any reason. I made reset and now it indicates as JBM Clip 4 and not connecting at all.

You have to to completely remove the previous glue or it will not adhere correctly to the new glue, the best and safest way to remove is 91% rubbing alcohol to break down the old glue use qtip to apply the alcohol, this is the least abrasive method so as not to damage the speakers casing, then find a high temp water resistant glue that can be applied to rubber & plastic.

I purchased a used Sony 33 (Tower) and a T&G TG 187 also cone shaped with strap both from 2 different sellers for less than 1 clearance JBL Clip 4. Bigger Sound from both with no worry of falling apart or felling like a chump for overpaying for a logo.

I mean dude its a awesome speaker but the problem is that the clip or carbiner is too breakable. My friend has it that speaker and i noticed something. If speaker falls on the ground, its ok but the clip will broke because its rubber and its not well secured.Go 3 like rlly sounds more natural to me and i dont like a bit the form or shape of a speaker, its just looks like a locker but the good thing that u can hook up on whenever u want. And after clip, the second thing i dont like is where are the on/off buttons and bluetooth button, its easy to missclick and turn on or off speaker when u dont want.

I only use my speaker indoors and within the first few months, the silicone/rubber parts started to peel. I have tried various types of glues to get them back on but it never stays on. Resorted to peeling them all off in frustration lol. Also thanks for making this video as before this I could not find any information elsewhere regarding this major flaw. After a year of usage, I noticed that when my speaker is not in use, the battery drains within 2 days. Wonder if anyone else has this issue too?

I wish the Gigantic JBL log can easily peel of like that

I have had the same issue on two returned units. My clip2 still looks brand new three years later. I’ve contacted JBL to complain and get a replacement but both were under thirty days old so returned to the store instead. Also my charge5 did the same. JBL needs to get it together as this was a easily preventable problem. I really can’t believe that they are using it on the Boombox3. SMH

I had a similar issue with my ones too and I suspect moisture is the culprit. That and the lack of a better design ofc.
So if you live in a really humid areas, your hands sweat a lot, the device it self is constantly exposed to moisture in general. Then most of not all the silicone rubber bits will eventually fail one after the other as shown here.
And as per mentioned, it can be glued back but the same thing will happen eventually (at least in my experience) and makes me avoid using this device.
Some ppl might get lucky given their region/use but yeah, it’s a srs design flaw imho too tbh.
That and the feedback tones can’t be disabled for me was the main reason why this particular model is a no go for me.
Shame since this has better sound wise from either this and the Go3.
I’m guessing all these recent JBL models bearing this cheap silicone rubber look imo will be dealing with similar issues like this eventually ie: Flip6 and many of not all that uses this sort of design.
My Flip6’s alone looks way worst visually (worn out) compared to my Flip5’s which has seen far more use than these newer ones. And it’s JLB’s newest flagship lineup LoL

This problem is the reason why I Prefer the JBL Clip 3 over the Clip 4

Only bought mine 2 weeks ago so thanks for the heads up - will be keeping my eye on it.

I love the speaker, however my biggest gripe is with the power button - one slight touch and the thing powers on/off so easily; doesn't help the button is situated where you grip the speaker to pick it up/readjust it when its strapped to my hiking bag.

Anybody tried the Skull Candy Kilo?

What did you do about the resin left after the rubber stickers? How to remove that? A clean clip 4 would look sleek

I have the same problem but that speaker is amazing so I’ll probably still buy a second one
