In 1870 Canada didn't have a Navy, the British Royal Navy protected Canada until 1903, the the Royal Canadian Navy came into existence. During the Second World War it was the 3rd largest Navy Allied in numbers of ships, mostly Corvettes, Destroyers and Frigates.

No idea, where these figures are from... Austria-Hungary never existed in that list (although they had 4 battleships...), Germany had no navy after world War I (just a handful of old ships)....

while this video offers some interesting comparison, it does not completely accounts for the "quality" of the tonnage available for each nation, meaning "where" those tonnage are going. you can have a huge fleet of military transport or obsolete ships like tin the case of Turkey and Spain from 1870 to 1950, while both are much more powerfull now since they heavily reduced the number of ships for better ones.

Man, you totally forgot about the Austrian and later Austro-Hungarian (War-)Navy. Even without submarines and torpedo boats, the total was >250.000 tons in 1914.

WW1 US navy more powerful than German? No. Completely lost all credibility when it showed 1930-40s German navy more powerful than Japanese. Tonnage isn't a measure of power!

Cool! One can see the competition between Germany and the UK prior to WWI. One can see the point at which the US Navy surpassed the Royal Navy and the rest of the world. One noteworthy omission was the navy of Austria-Hungary prior to the end of WWI. Their fleet included a number of Dreadnoughts and really should be covered as well.
