5 Reasons to Learn Linux in 2017

Linux is great to know even if it is not your primary or exclusive operating system, but there are excellent things you can do with Linux that you cannot do with Windows systems on an at home basis. These are my top five reasons to learn something about Linux in 2017.

Hello STL ! The change of paradigm. MS wants to control you. In Linux you have distributions like Gentoo and Slackware which give you the total control of your operating system. Slackware is the oldest one. Both are systemd free. If you want to have Gnome 3 you are compelled to choose systemd which restricts your choice of init systems.
Can you imagine that Slackware began in 1993 and is still rock solid with the same tools ?
Plenty of distros have already disappeared. But those two are still there and for good reasons !

Cool that you mention it, I got Blender up right now, I been at it for 2 days, sunrise to bedtime. I am learning blender by just creating a model with it. Blender has amazed me, .. it is far better than I had imagined. I used to use max, but have quit with all autodesk products because of them going to the rent system.

Do you have any recommendations for resources on where we can learn the fundamentals of Linux, and some more advanced stuff? Content suggestion for you :) do a video series of how-to's, like a Linux A-Z, Linux 101, then moving on to configuring different things, command line use, etc. Just broken up into quick and easy to watch videos focused on just a few things at a time. I think you might get a lot of interest in something like that. Anyway just a thought!

I am a novice. I am watching this with the Pale Moon browser using ROSA R9 LXQt. I like it. For some reason, I have not figured out yet, this distro calls the browser New Moon. It has a Qt-based image viewer called Nomacs.

well, linux is one thing the distro is another... compare what is comparable
as long as you keep an eye on the kern source code but there is nothing you can do sometimes without vendors drivers ... linux is made by companies for companies (ibm hp sgi redhat ) systemd sucks and you're left to deal with it then pulseaudio then udev ...

There are hundreds of reasons to throw windoz and alike to trash, actually ;) but thanks for your video, buddy! Most of the people will never switch to Linux, as most people are programmed zombies and too lazy to learn new things...
