Lea Salonga was born on Feb 22, 1971 in the Philippines. She began her career at age 7 in a production of THE KING AND I and played her first lead role at age 9 in ANNIE. Lea released her first album at age 10 (and it was certified gold). From ages 7-17 Lea did theater, film, TV (she even hosted a musical tv show with her brother when she was 12-14), albums and concerts. She starred in the original MISS SAIGON in London at age 18, won the Olivier award at age 19, opened the show on Broadway at age 20 and won all the major theater awards that year. Lea is the singing voice of 2 Disney princesses: Jasmine and Mulan. She has lots of other credits, but I won’t go into them here. Definitely check out more of her performances. She is amazing!

Beautiful song from movie Evita. Madonna has nice version as well. Real nice song from Les Miserables with Lea is On my own

Beautiful!! It would have been so much better if her singing wasn't interrupted by your comments until the very end of her song. I never heard her sing so I really wanted to hear her voice in the entirety of her performance. She's a master performer from whatever I heard here. Loved her voice . . .

This is from the musical Evita. It chronicles the life and death of Argentine politician (2nd wife of the dictator Juan Peron), actress and activist Eva (Evita) Peron. Before her death by cancer, she was considered "The Spiritual Leader Of The Nation." Lea does a wonderful job, as always. Madonna sang this for the movie adaptation. Even with all of the studio effects and voice sweeteners, I still prefer Lea's raw vocals live.
