That's how Chris Watts started out. Crushing on another woman and having a strong disdain for his wife. Op needs to take her child and run!

Yes, police laughed at me when i returned home and filed a police report against my captor. I was escorted by fbi and police out of his house AND to the airport, and was told to file it in my state when i was ready. And my local officer LAUGHED AT ME and blamed me for it. When i told my dad this, he went up and gave them a piece of his mind in front of the department and shamed them. Thanks dad ♡

I wonder if there’s a diagnosis of what made her “sick” it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen a woman being poisoned by her partner…. 😬

"I brought two trusted male friends.. and a baseball bat." Fucking hell, I know the situation is bad, but that's so fucking badass. Rolled up like a mob boss and laid down the law.

Are you kidding me with the cop??? He threatened to TELL THE HUSBAND????!!!

The fact that this OP's mother 'never trusted the husband' almost speaks louder than the journal entries. She knew from the beginning that something was off with this man.

I’ve seen too many true crimes stories about family annihilators to think she is overreacting by leaving. Do not waver, girl, and get you and your baby out!

Story 1 - I would also be really concerned about the poor woman he seems obsessed with... what happens if he makes a move and she rejects him... something tells me he wont take it so well....

When I fled the state and refused to give my abusive ex my address he managed to find out what city I was in. He called in a welfare check on me and our son. I asked who called it I. And when they did I explained why I didn’t want him to have my address and that my son and I were okay. They came in and checked us out. THE OFFICERS GAVE HIM MY ADDRESS. I moved again and he started making accusations of child abuse, a female officer came out that time and was visibly angry after seeing my son was fine and when I told her about the situation with the last set of officers. Police are usually one of the last friends when in a situation like that.

Story 1: ‘The police chided me and threatened to tell my husband’ dude, he wrote that he wanted to kill his wife!

Whenever people say it's wrong to snoop, I think of the fairytale "Bluebeard". If Bluebeard's wife hadn't snooped, and seen the chamber full of dead women, she would have probably ended up dead herself, or stayed married to a serial killer. Being nosy for the sake of being nosy is, of course, wrong, but sometimes you have to trust your instincts and investigate. The same applies when you suspect your partner of infidelity, OSIT.

When your spouse says things like that, believe them. Even "signs" that something is wrong, pay attention. I missed the signs, and I almost died. He genuinely wanted me to die and as a result I spent a month in the hospital and almost a year recovering. Never shake off that gut feeling.

I hope that cop in the update doesn't have a spouse, what the fuck? Yeah it's an invasion or privacy but if she didn't read it, she'd end up missing. Honestly he'd probably prefer that since he could just half ass an investigation

That’s scary. She was in so much shock over the journal that she misread passages about him _wanting to kill her._ I’m so glad she got out and I hope she stays safe

Story 1 sounds like how every true crime story starts about a married spouse getting murdered.

I can't believe how the police officer reacted when OP reported her husband. He is writing that he wants her dead over and over again, but all the cop could do was reprimand OP for invading her husband's privacy! The husband is dangerous, and it's lucky that OP found and read the diaries.
Story 2 OP is not the child's father and has no responsibility towards Maria or her child. Maria's friends' need to back off and stop berating OP for not supporting Maria. I agree with Brad that OP needs to cut contact with Maria.

I wonder what red flags the mum saw in the husband that OP didn't see to create a back up plan as big as this. I am glad she has a supportive family. But it's so important to be vigilant, I am learning this now. God forbid if OP's mum didn't forsee this, picking up the pieces could have been more complicated.

I had a similar journal experience with my ex. He always left his journal lying around (even left it open), and after a fight one day, I read some if it. If was full of his fantasies about wanting to sexually assault some "annoying" female friends of his to "put them in their place" and other disturbing and violent sides to him I never would have guessed. It obviously resulted in the end of our relationship, but he really guilted me for violating his privacy like that, which I agree was wrong of me. He said the journal is meant to be an outlet for fleeting thoughts, like word vomit on a paper and weren't his "actual feelings." But to this day, I'm so thankful I read that freaking journal, regardless

I just read about a case in the UK where a girl who reported her stalker was FINED for wasting Police time and then a couple of weeks later the nutcase stalker slit her throat and set her on fire! The Police Officer in question still got his full pension after leaving the force!

Also a case in Australia this year where another narcissistic psychopath set his partner and children on fire when she was in the process of leaving him, killing them all! she had a protection order. The apathy towards male violence is global.
