FORD Canister Purge Valve Replacement EVAP

preview_player
Показать описание
These Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Purge Control Valves in 2009 or new Ford engines have a tendency to get stuck... this causes your "check engine" light to come on and threw a bunch of different codes about O2, vapors and richness. But, a couple bucks and a few minutes can literally save you HUNDREDS of dollars. Before you take your car/truck in, swap out your Canister Purge Valve and see if that does the trick... its a good idea anyway!! Here's How!

I just made this repair today, and I can’t tell you how grateful I am for your video. My dad used to fix things on my car, and since he passed away, learning to fix my car has made me feel close to him. Thanks for making that possible. It’s so empowering to fix your own car! Also, for anyone else who doesn’t have a code reader and doesn’t want to disconnect the battery, my CEL went off after running a couple errands (I would say about 3 engine starts and 4 miles of driving). Thanks again!

Absolute A+ on this video. From the voiceover to the great video angles and tips, this was killer. Thanks so much. One tip that may help some with disconnecting the clips is to unseat it first: disconnect feed, then unbolt it, making it easier to get to BOTH of the clips that hold the vacuum hose on. You can get a better angle on the clips that way.

Very informative video, Thank you ! Note : that plastic retainer clip at time 3:05 is a plastic C-clip.As soon as I pushed on it, just a little bit, it snapped off. To repair, I used a medium-sized Zip tie and it works better than that hard plastic OEM C-clip. Just feed it through the first C-clip opening and around the tube and then feed through the second c-clip opening. ONLY tighten the zip tie AFTER you have inserted the tube onto the PCV valve.

Retaining clip Dorman 800-040 (it's labeled as a fuel line clip) will work to replace the original one on the vacuum hose if you break or lose it. I did find I had to sand the Dorman clip thinner a bit in order for it to slide down and fully clip in. It was easy with a Dremel and a cutoff wheel acting as the sander. I found this info from a previous comment here but that reply is buried so I'm making this comment in hopes that it will help someone else more quickly identify a solution.

Thank you so much! My husband was able to replace this part thanks to your simple explanation and demonstration! $20.00 for the part and 30 minutes of effort, and I'm back on the road! Stay safe and well. God bless.😁

This video was a lifesaver. Super easy with the exception of the little plastic clamp that hides the hose on the model falling off during disassembly. This was a breeze.

Most 2010 fords are under recall right now for the cannister purge valve, check to see if it falls under recall before spending any money. Got it replaced and a rental car while I waited. Great video to save money for those who are not under recall.

First time minor evap code came up I replaced the gas cap. This did clear for a couple years. It's now throwing the code again so I'll replace the purge valve. Cheap fix.

Part cost me $40.
Mechanic was going to charge me $85.
Literally changed it myself in less than 5 mins.
Thank you.

Yes it will cost you more to have tested than to replace that valve. I appreciate you showing us how to test them I did not know how to do that. Like you said though just go ahead and replace it even if it tests good it still may fix the check engine light.

Would a bad purge valve cause my 2014 Ford Edge cause it to hesitate to start after getting gas?

do you have any tips on how to remove the quick release connector on the purge valve hose? i'm punching the green tabs but the hose will not disconnect from the purge valve so i can replace it and im afraid ill break the connector

It's important to know that "oxygen sensor 1 bank 1 and bank 2 stuck rich" codes plus a rough start after fueling all the way are probably the evap valve combined with a dirty air filter. That was my case. Filter replacement made the codes eventually go away, but the evap is the root cause.

My 13 Explorer was pulling a P144A code and nothing else. This was the culprit with the same vacuum at idle test performed. Thanks!
