Damn, I used to be a Zep/Sabbath/Floyd head just like any other teenager, but as you live on and listen to and play/practice so much music as a pianist, you start to just appreciate people who do whatever it is they do well.
Randy is and will always be on of the most endearing songwriters of all time because of his crazy ability to showcase what he's got in a context that is perfect for him. That simple. He's no pavarotti, but he has charisma, heart and humor that is so unique and always cleverly woven into the vocabulary of any great American songbook without ever feeling like he's trying too hard.
Stay safe, Randy. You're a legend and we love you, dude.
