Показать описание
On this solo canoe trip in Algonquin Park I encounter a chorus of howling wolves only a short distance away from my camp. I travel over 70km in two days, paddling and portaging through the middle of Algonquin Park. Filmed in September 2017.

Brings back memories. My Dad and I used to go canoeing and camping in Algonquin, in the early 1970's. Some of my best memories of him.

Best wolf pack rendition I've ever heard on video they seemed extremely close.

Amazing how close the wolves were howling! I've heard wolves howl many times, but never that close. I even tried howling back to a pack on a northern Ontario crown land canoe trip late last fall, but they ignored my pathetic call, lol. Thanks for sharing!

Alec you got guts. I would've swam back to my car after hearing those wolves 🤣

Thank you very much for the canoe through memory lane. As a teenager in the late 60s I used to take campers through that exact same area. We would start at Canoe Lake and take north loops through Big Trout and Burntroot Lakes. Man to be young again, what wonderful times those were.

There is nothing on earth which rivals the experience of being in close proximity to the apex predator of the woods. We are not on the menu - well done Alec.

I went winter camping in Algonquin ~2 decades ago with the family and we had them serenade us for breakfast at sunrise. At first I thought we were breakfast but they kept a comfortable distance, it was quite the experience! Thanks for sharing!

I've missed the sound of the wolves. I haven't spent much time in the bush in the past few years. This brought me back to my happy place, thank you so much.

Nice little trip Alec. I have to tell you I could not tell the actual wolf howl from your call, well done! That is an eerie sound in the bush at night.

Bro, amazing ! I went to Camp Pathfinder in the 80s (on Source Lake) and we literally zigzagged across Algonquin Park—portaging handmade canvas wooden canoes... We were always on the lookout for the ever-elusive wolves, and never found them.
You are extremely lucky to have run into that pack; in all my years at Algonquin we saw plenty of moose, one black bear, and the rest of the usual suspects, but never a wolf !
Now, I live happily in the Caribbean with my family, next to the highest coastal mountain range in the world, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, applying many of the skills that I learned as a boy and teen in the Algonquin backwoods...
Paddle onwards—Noon Way !

I grew up going to summer camp in Algonquin park which included two week long backcountry canoe trips. This video is so special 😭🙌🏻 thanks for sharing! One thing I don’t miss are the trillions of mosquitoes on the portages lol.

That was incredible. I will say I have been wanting to do this so bad but I would have been so scared

That paddle in Opeongo is a chore...but always worth it.

Just clicked on this from your post on APP Facebook page. Kind of funny because I've heard a pack (Own a resort on Oxtongue) every other night for the last few weeks.. Apparently a lone wolf or small pack are roaming Oxtongue Rapids area. Extremely eerie and awesome to hear so close to home.
