That makes zero sense. You'd experience whatever the simulations wished for you to experience. There's no limitation on what you can discover, or figure out, except for the knowledge the simulation is designed to feed to you.

Like, it's conceivable that the simulation could be trying to make you aware of your situation, yes? That means it isn't impossible for one to know of their situation.

I don't see at all how that serves as a refutation. Humans say "brain in a vat" because they think of brain as the ultimate organ that makes us what we are. In reality, if the simulation hypothesis was true, it needn't be brain per se, it could be something like a "soul on a trip/dream" or something.
