Agnetha's and Frida's velvet vocal couch ...Aaaagh!how relaxing.

Something that I love about the first two ABBA albums is that the girls sang differently, frida still kept her jazz style and agnetha more pop (like a little girl); then, in the following albums their voices tried to make a better ensemble and adjust more to the expectations as ABBA... in this song Frida's voice in the solo is very beautiful.

Most ABBA songs are timeless, but this one, although pleasant and melodic, is definitely stuck in 1972/73, and this is coming from a massive ABBA fan

I know it sounds like the soundtrack of an old-fashioned and kitschy TV film of the early seventies, but it's ABBA with their beautiful voices and I love it.

I like this song so much. It reminds me of some '50s musicals with Doris Day - which I love. I can clearly see ABBA dancing gracefully a kind of soft tip tap on stage :)

This 1st album draws together material written over several years, so time erodes some cohesion and Bjorn and Benny are trying to formulate a style that could be a blue print that could become ABBA, so trying different arrangements, instruments, vocal combinations, and styles and genres are all up for consideration. I love this ABBA it is in its formative time like a child growing and learning striving for better higher and bolder, and they will reach heights and soar majestically into the sky and weave their magic and power over the world to be the phenomenon that WILL be ABBA and send down their gift of music to all.

Only ABBA can take a song like that, and make it sound melancholic. Beautiful. You can all most hear ocean waves in the back ground.

The thing with Abba is that they can sing in so many different genres...Pop, Rock, Disco, Folk, etc. Their journey had to start somewhere and they have progressed through these past 50 years. For any Group or solo artist to produce the same sound/type of music would be boring...well to me it would.

Always liked that.Trumpets weren't that bad to my ears and i know it was quite a trend in central European music scene at the time.Flutes too, ("Another town, another train") but even more worldwide spread especially after that early '70s Simon Garfankel "Bridge over troubled water" influential album which was extremely succesful.Abba in this song reminds me a lot of The Mamas and Papas, but in a more European colour. They were still searching for their musical identity at the time until finally things started taking shape from their 3rd album and after.Everything was in a creative progression.

Aww what sweet song. Voices are so pure. I agree with you about the trumpet.

I've always loved this song. For some way too sweet, but it just hits the right spot in me, and I can play it in a loop mode 🤩

My favorite song on the album. The charm of the vocals and the melody do it for me. As you say like a pop lullaby. I respectfully disagree with you about the trumpet or tuba or whatever it is :) It adds a contrast against the softness of the voices and also gives the song a very distinctive sound. A bit of a 60s or 70s thing too, much like the flute. Cheers Mr. G, have a wonderful weekend! 🇺🇸🇸🇪

I am just a girl is my fav song of the Ring Ring album and do I like the trumpets in it. Also the song gives me kind of British feeling and the trumpets remind me a bit of All You Need Is Love by the Beatles.

This definitely sounds like it’s from an earlier decade almost like a barber shop quartet sound.

I haven't heard this song in a very long time. It is like songs from the 30s and 40s.

I never noticed the trumpets in this song, but now that you pointed it out, I agree. The song, ever since I heard it for the first time, to me was very different from all of ABBA. I even thought that would not have guessed it to be ABBA. That was back in the 1990s. I played it to my mother and had her guess and she instantly knew it was ABBA. So maybe it does sound like ABBA to other people.
