Wojtek was a Syrian brown bear adopted by Polish soldiers during WWII. He was taught to carry ammunition and supplies and became a morale booster for the troops. He was enlisted as a private in the Polish Army and helped in the Battle of Monte Cassino. After the war, he lived in a zoo in Scotland until he passed away in 1963, becoming a symbol of Polish bravery during WWII.
