Hey mate, I was looking for an answer to a question on the internet and I couldn't find it. I found your video from 2014 "How to change Hostname on Linux or Unix" where you explained how to do it but unfortunately that's not what I was searching for. Your channel is about technology so I'm hoping it's okay to ask you that. I'm wondering what's the point of changing the hostname of a computer at all given that other machine doesn't use hosts file and there is no DNS server in the network. Actually even if these things are present what's the point? Not a signele machine will be able to connect or to refer in any way to a machine where I changed to hostname locally. I mean if I'm sitting in front of machine A and want to ping/ssh/refer to in any way to machine B changing the hostname on the machine B doesn't actually accomplish anything does it? If you could shed some light on that I'd be delighted.
