I literally have NEVER heard of thiswoman!
Usually when a clickbait headline says "This X that you've never heard of".... I have.
You didn't even do the clickbait and yet added richness to my world. Thanks!

Leigh Hunt is considered the father of investigative journalism. The King of England had him imprisoned for his work. A friend to Byron, Keats, and the Shelley’s, this prolific writer has been sadly forgotten. I think he would be very proud that Nelly Bly continued this important work.

I was obsessed with her as a child! I did a report on her (in full costume!) for school and my book with biographies of famous women that featured her was my favorite. I haven’t thought about her in years but I recognized her photo immediately. Thanks for reminding me ❤ she was one of my first “Roman empires” and it’s so fun to be thinking about her again.

Reagan started dismantling Nellie Bly’s good and noble work in the 80’s, and Trump is posed to finish dismantling it.
We need to fight to save what she fought to gain us.

during her 80 day journey, it got so popular that a rival newspaper got another woman to go around the world in 80 days too, but the opposite way around (nellie won!)

I can't tell if it's editing a trick of the light, my brain, or the real photo but her lips are a little pink, and her eyes a little blue, and I love that I can know that about her

I to Had this Mission in my State because My People Passed this Legacy to me Way Pre history before Nelly Bly Due to the Conditions of Slavery In Prisons and Pipelines of Mental Institutions I was assigned to It Because my People were Laws Enforcement Officials We are Knight's of The Good side of Social injustice So our Plight was on a Historical Grandeur Stage

The character of Katherine Plummer n the Broadway version of Newsies is loosely based on Nellie Bly

Super cool lady.
The stones on her to be locked up in an asylum. If her editor wouldn't have gotten her out she could have been locked up for years. That has happened. Completely normal people got locked up, drugged and treated into actual madness.
That could have happened to her too.

My Suggestion also is to Read about Or Watch Screen Play Dogville Because that's what happens to those who roll over People they don't know that does come from Power and Money in a Small town
