Impacts have only two benefits, they are small and don't transfer the torque in your wrist

I can smell and feel the heat from the motor of that drill from here.

Hey Scotty the impact is very useful for low torque applications such as fixing off sheet material and getting just the right tightness on a screw in variable materials due to the automatic torque control you get through the ‘anvil’ style drive in it. However it’s a lower power motor compared to your drill driver which can push larger fixings through thicker materials. The downside of the drill driver is it can over drive and strip fixings if you don’t have the gear box set correctly.

Now why haven’t you done a short on scribers haha.

If you're driving a lot of Philips head and square drive screws then then tend to cam out when using a drill. With impact drivers they seem to reseat the bit in the screws with each impact

Impact is more compact and you can drive the screws one handed without any strain on your hand. A couple of twists and smacks of your hand into wood while you use the drill and you will quickly switch back to impact :D

Do the drill shot one handed at the same height as the impact driver shot and the reason becomes obvious.

I think the peak torque and impact driver can drive is higher.

They're super useful for extracting rusty screws/bolts.

What about actually tightening the screw so that things get pulled together tight? Impacts can pull things when they have gaps in between, drills can’t in my humble experience.

PS I love your videos 👌

Impact drivers are easier on your hands and wrists. Especially if you’re putting in lag bolts.

Never needed an impact for a bit of soft wood, once you slow a drill down and it gets hot change to an impact…

In my affordable makita 12v cxt set I don't have luxury to choose. Impact can drive lagbolts, the drill just can't 😅. I also use the impact to drill with +10mm holes, because the impact just goes, where the drill dies. Of course this means I have to buy drill bits with hex drive.

Yes impact takes longer, but you can use it one handed in awkward positions safely, but should we be working in awkward positions? Wellll……., my take is - different tools for different situations, its not a contest

A drill with it's extra side handle is awesome at lag bolts. Without the handle; goodbye wrist.

This is what I’ve been wondering for years!!!

Cause they pull timber together tight. Drills leave the wood wobbly.

Try driving that bugle with one hand at that speed with a drill, I dare you.

They are safer to your wrist, and a bit smaller. … and much noisier, so you don’t forget you are doing something with an electric tool 😂😂😂

Drill vs Impact Driver. Which has more torque?

For a giant lag or drilling a big hole, drills are the superior choice. But if I'm on a rood installing metal roofing panels with 1.5 to 2 inch long screws I'm not gonna carry a big heavy drill that always seems to loosen the chuck on the bit, right when I'm getting too hot tired and frustrated to deal with it. Just no

Bro I nearly got shmacked off the roof putting in the stud lock screws above head. I was just too lazy to grab me impact on the ground 😂 I did almost break my nose from the whiplash tho
