When Americans say Canadian Bacon they never mean real Canadian Bacon aka PeaMeal Bacon they just mean Ham, every time I’ve ordered Canadian bacon at American restaurants I get ham and I get sad.

Rae’s taste is likely influenced by her Filipino background. Filipinos are fond of sweet foods, even our savory meals are usually on the sweeter end barring the sour dishes, which are also a big favorite. So that’s why Pineapple on Pizzas, hated in most places, have found its home here, where the sweetness of the pineapple is a nice complement to the other toppings on the pizza. It’s also why we have sweet macaroni salad.

Fun fact, it’s why the McSpaghetti, which was a massive failure in the US, succeeded in the Philippines, where the sweet, ketchupy taste actuall matches the local tastes, where it was already common to add ketchup to spaghetti sauces.

As a Canadian it truly confuses me to the depths of my being when an american says "canadian bacon" when what they really mean is ham. Like is 5 more syllables really worth it? Not to mention its just wrong on so many levels

I’ve seen “Canadian bacon” sold in American stores and it’ll actually just be ham. I think some Americans assume the 2 are interchangeable bc they’ve been scammed out of Canadian bacon too many times
