Phil Breaking Down Practice Questions for the ASWB LMSW/LSW/LCSW Exams

Today I review 5 questions that varying clinical considerations. I provide insight on the type of questions: Recall,Reasoning, or Application, as well as apply the SFAREAFI as applicable.

The ASWB Clinical Exam, or the Association of Social Work Boards Clinical Exam, is a test that was made to determine whether or not an individual's level of knowledge of social work in a clinical setting is sufficient. You will have four hours to complete 170 multiple choice questions, including 20 pre-test questions, that test your knowledge in Human Behavior, Diversity Issues, Diagnosis and Assessment, Psychotherapy, Communication, Therapeutic Relationships, Professional Ethics, Clinical Supervision, Practice Evaluation, Service Delivery, and Clinical Practice and Management. To register, you must have at least a Master's degree from a social work program, and two years of clinical social work experience.

On question #1 it didn't even cross my mind that the word "family" meant the kids were drinking too. I pictured the adults in the family only. I hope the questions are clearer on the actual exam eek!

I am confused by the first question. I understand safety is always the priority...but we also are not supposed to add any additional information to the question as it is presented. In the scenario, it states "their children"...but does not provide ages, so we are assuming they are underaged children. What if they were adult-aged children and, thus, allowed to drink in the US? We wouldn't know since that is not explicitly stated in the vignette. I know I am overthinking, but it's things like this that make me more anxious about the exam.
