Once I saw 'Midsommar' I immediately realized that there are so many common thing sbetween Slavic (before Christianity) and Nordic culture. For example the Vikings series do not show this kind of similarity. In fact the lace they have on the clothes, the traditions connected to 'Mother Nature', flower wreaths, arts they have on the walls etc are soooo close to what Slavic culture has.

Midsommar is probably my favourite film ever, and Shum is one of the best songs produced in the last decade or so. Whoever had the brilliance to put them together deserves a medal. It was like they were completely made for each other.

When I watched Midsommar for the 1st time, first thing I thought was that clothes, embroidery, wreaths and round dances were very similar to Ukrainian midsummer soltice celebration (Kupala). But we do not kill anybody (at least nowadays)😜

I'm from Ukraine and damn that was beautiful. I like horror movies like Midsommar and I like traditional Ukrainian music. These two combined are just perfect especially because "Vesnyanka" is a ritual song for celebrating spring. Also Ukrainians and Swedes share the same history because of the Vikings that's why Scandinavian people had paganism like us :)

Дохристиянські пісні.Як гарно, що вони збереглися в народному фольклорі і не були забуті.

I’m from a slavic country and this is such a beautiful song! Well, I don’t understand the whole text but I still understand some words and it has beautiful meaning and it has so much to do with our culture… To be honest I feel kinda sad that most Americans and non-slavic people know almost nothing about our culture… I wish I could fix that somehow….-

У меня мурашки были на протяжении всего клипа, а в конце зашлась истеричными слезами. Настолько меня впечатлил фильм и покорила сердце песня, что их сочетание возымело такой эффект. Запоминающаяся робота.

And these people laughed on their TV from Go_A song and our traditions to dance, when they actually have almost the same moves! Btw this movie is horror, but as for me connection with Go_A song is very good, because their dance suits to the lyric and somehow similar to the traditional danсe of Kupala
