During the Gandhi Centenary Year, on September 24, 1969, the then Union Education Minister Dr. V.K.R.V Rao launched National Service Scheme in 37 universities across all states in India, with 40 thousand students. Today, this National Family has grown to more than 38 lakh.

"NOT ME BUT YOU”

This watchword of NSS accurately describes the core doctrine of NSS philosophy, underlining the principle of ' Development of Student's Personality through community services'.

The symbol of NSS that is based on the "Rath" wheel of the Konark Sun Temple, situated in Odisha, signifying the lively, active and energetic soul of NSS Volunteers along with portraying the cycle of creation, preservation, release, change and continuity.

Know more about the History, Philosophy and Work of NSS as we celebrate the 52nd Birth anniversary of National Service Scheme, which came into existence as an idea, now has become an organization of Great Spirits.
