If it's using the Source engine, you can run the trough Steam placing the mod's root folder to the sourcemod folder on steamapps. It's easy.

It was not working at all, but then I noticed comment of @x4002- necessity to swich Steam language to English - and that WORKED !! :-)

I have Half life 2 : Episode One, non-steam, did what the video said but doesn't work, same error message: 'Platform Error module Failed to Initialize'.
