"And your bird can sing" has to be the prime example of this

The riff at the beginning of this sure was great

Sum 41 was pretty good at doing these as well. That riff always reminded me of something they would write as well.

One of my favourite examples of this is the opening to The Trooper by Iron Maiden playing roughly the same parts just two frets

Ah Jimmy ❤ One the og melodic pop/punk bands that came out of the early-mid 90’s that have stood the test of time, and are still going strong.

Another good example for those looking for others, though perhaps drifting more into emopunk, would be the bridge of 'This Photograph is Proof (I Know You Know)' by Taking Back Sunday off the album 'Where You Want To Be' (2004).

Fred Mascherino and Eddie Reyes play octave leads, Eddie starting on E and Fred on A, and move in steps across the scale toward one another before ending where the other guitar part began. Matt Madiro's bass part, meanwhile, roots the two leads first in a B, then a G before all three guitars suddenly crash down into a low E.

One of the things my guitar teacher mentioned to me when learning is just after a single chord I tested it through out the fretboard.
I ended up just making simple riffs off a G-Chord and used it for some cool Rhythm sections and Harmonies. Sometimes sticking to simplicity just works.

311 does this in a lot of their songs, as well. Beautiful Disaster, Hostile Apostle, and Sunset in July to name a few
