'General Hospital' Actress Jacklyn Zeman Dead at Age 70 | PEOPLE

Jacklyn Zeman, the veteran actress best known for playing Bobbie Spencer on General Hospital for more than 40 years, has died. She was 70.

The series' executive producer, Frank Valentini, announced the soap opera star's death Wednesday evening.

I'm in total shock over just finding out about this! She will be sorely missed. I've been watching her in the role of Bobbie for most of my life. I had the pleasure of meeting her in person once and she was so lovely😭

So sad !... a lovely lady....I knew Jackie as a child in Bergenfield....she was my sisters friend who came by our house regularly...she was also someone who became part of my acting life. We were both in the drama club in high school however she was a few years younger and we didn't work together there....but years later in 1973 got a call from Jackie inviting me to come join her in a studio in NYC to study television acting ...particularly soap opera techniques...just after that she got a part on AMC and the rest is history....she was a wonderful kind person...she had class...and she was a kind friend to me....would have loved to have seen her once more....love to her family who have lost a gem !!

To say this is a loss to the soap opera genre is a complete understatement! So many came and went through the generations on daytime, but Jacklyn Zeman's portrayal (and superb one at that) of Bobbie Spencer made her an afternoon staple and icon! 45 years of consistency is truly absurd! Thanks to my mother who was about as avid a fan of GH as it gets, my grade school years in the early '80s was coming home to GH and Mom controlled the TV dial when it was still really just the three main networks (I'm showing my age (51)- LMAO)! So I vividly remember Bobbie and Dr Drake as a couple! Dr Drake of course was none other than the awesome Rick Springfield JS! Jacklyn Zeman was a daytime institution not just for her longevity but for those of us who grew up watching her character daily! That and she was beautiful! Much condolences to her family!
