Airbnb guests find hidden cameras in rentals

Airbnb is tackling privacy concerns after several customers found hidden cameras at their rental properties. Airbnb requires hosts to disclose to guests prior to their stay if they have any cameras on their property. Anna Werner reports.

i think if the camera inside the house is could mean the owner fear his her home will be vandalized by bad renter.but if the camera inside the bathroom, is another story.

I always had concerns about this with Airbnb and some other providers. You are taking your chances on running into the pervert setting up cameras... That, plus the fact that the owner has a key and could sneak back into apartment at anytime while you are out, and go through your belongings and personal sensitive paperwork that you may have in the apartment. That, and/or, if you are a single female, he could enter your apartment at night and attack you.. If you are doing Airbbnb, make sure you rent a place that has a bolt on the inside of the door, or bring a portable door-jam with you. And, obviously, always do an intensive visual inspection of the place when you arrive to check for hidden cameras...ect Check light fixtures, lamps, smoke detectors, wall art, tvs, electrical outlets, air vents, window frames, curtain rods...etc. Even if you don't have an electronic device detector, an intensive visual inspection can sometimes work good enough. If you think all this is over and/or paranoia, then go ahead and take your chances. Not me... lol

That's when you take photos of the cell phone under the sink, & the iPad. Then you take both cell phone & iPad to local police. Tell them you have been filmed. Then contact the local owner, & tell them if they want their recording devices back, they can pick their property up at that police station.

If I ever get an Airbnb, the first thing I'm scoping for is a hidden camera in every room.. Too many crazies, creeps, and perverts out there. 😩 Can't trust ppl...smh

I never book private property's because of this type of thing. When at hotels, l cover certain things l know can hide them. I'm always aware of this. It's creepy af!

Hotels are not allowed to film inside the room, why should airbnb be allowed to do it?

I can maybe see a camera in the main living area quarters in case some one trashed the place for insurance purpose. That’s as far as it goes.

This is the 5th story I've seen on airbnb hidden recording tech in 2weeks. Seems anyone using airbnb is paying extra Money compared to Motel 6, ..8, ..mini, etc for an almost as 'cheap' experience.
Doesn't seem worth it.
I think as long as it ain't a flop house, I'll risk the lower price.

More proof that "there's no place like home"!! Why would anyone ever let total STRANGERS stay in their home? More interesting, why would anyone want to stay in a total stranger's home? It's all just nuts!!
