Silverstone's Cases Are Wild: Alta D1, CW04, Fara 514X, & $60 515X

Silverstone often has some of the most unique and mechanically advanced cases at Computex, and for #computex 2024, we most liked the Alta D1 for its modularity and ability to swap components all around the case with a simple rails system. Silverstone also had some new budget PC cases, like a $60 Fara 515X and $100 Fara 514X airflow case.

Shout out to whoever's doing the sound mixing on this series! Steve's been perfectly audible in these loud environments.

I don't need an Alta D1. I don't need that much modularity and space. I don't have the space for it. But I want it very very much. I hope Silverstone are successful because their quality and attention to detail deserve wider recognition. (Happy Fara R1 owner here... with additional fans of course!)

Finally, a case with 5.25" drive bay support that does not force you to permanently choose between either the drives or installing a third fan at the front (by virtue of having to hammer out the mounting frame for the fan).

fun fact, i have a case that's at least 25 years old and only recently realized that it had one of those slide out motherboard trays

I've been watching coverage of Computex on a few channels, and Steve is the only one I've seen out there straight man-handling the cases. Instead of just reading the manufacturer talking points, Steve's out there giving us the demos. Thanks, Steve!

I'm glad to see 5.25 still getting some love.

Man, I wish Silverstone also built a much price friendlier case that has at least 70% of Alta D1's modularity.

Silverstone always was up there among various case technologies innovators.
I still remember their very interesting unorthodox layout FT02 / RV02 cases ..
I wish they will keep treating us with good products in future to follow as well

Steve's obsession with magnets and how miraculously they work will never cease to make my heart happy.

I had one of those slide out mobo trays back in the day. Loved it.

I love how Silverstone still likes to experiment with the weird stuff. I still have their SG10 and love the little origami assembly to fit so much in such a tiny area.

This modularity kick they're having is great and I hope they shrink it sometime.

Silverstone has some of the best looking cases i've ever seen. Design and the quality of their cases is top notch. Sadly it's so hard to find them anywhere in Serbia to buy them. Not to mention the price which is quite high yet still well worth.

I love all of Silverstone's neat mechanical latches, slides, and hooks. With more gamer centric cases had these awesome features. That last case was really cool. I bet it'd look great wrapped in a wood veneer looking vinyl wrap.

It's about time we see more cases like these with function over form modularity and serviceability in mind. I just wish that western case manufacturers also didn't skip out on built-in I/O and options like MicroSD/SD card readers or mechanical fan speed controllers even on hundred dollar and up cases.

My favorite case I call Frankenstein, it's from around 1992, is heavy gauge stainless steel, room for two power supplies, and a built in direct drive squirrel cage blower with an inverter driver and an air duct system that very silently moves a lot of air and puts it wherever you want it. It weighs about 45 pounds. It's big enough that a 4090 looks like it was made for it. and you could put two in the case without worry's about airflow if the MB was big enough. Originally I think it was some some Unix based graphics workstation, I got it University surplus.

Glad to see Silverstone are continuing the CS series, I recently picked up a CS382 for a home server/NAS and have been very pleased so far. Big fan of Silverstone's work!

Any case with five and a quarter inch bays has my approval. I like a lot of Silverstone's cases, but they do tend to be expensive, unfortunately.

3:06 - I would have the same reaction, I definitely want to get one, it's like an heirloom PC case at this point
