So back in the 60 s '70s '80s especially younger people would say. Sucker! Like we would use" loser" now.
Like if a kid stole another kid's bike he would yell "sucker!"
Keeping that in mind it's kind of a way to taunt or openly mock somebody. And when you say I'm a sucker for something. It kind of means I can't help myself or I cannot resist. So it's kind of a way to mock yourself but in a nice way. I think it's also a way to be modest while being honest about yourself.

A "sucker" is someone who falls for tricks/sales, so if you know you couldn't say no to someone selling ice cream, or someone you like asking you out, you can admit it by saying you're a sucker for it.

Or if you trick or sell something to someone easily, you can call them a sucker (not to their face). This use is derogatory though.
