I've always struggled with color theory, let alone creating shadows. However, your explanation has been for me a lifesaver. Not only weren't you clear but precise in illustrating and painting techniques as well. Creator blessings ma'am.

I just wanted to tell you how wonderfully informative I found your YouTube posts. You are such a talented artist. But, you’ve heard that before. As a teacher, you are excellent. I’ve been painting for some 32 years. I thought I needed a degree so I got my bachelors at Western Kentucky University. And you are so amazing as a teacher, you should really be a professor. Maybe you were I don’t know. But you Certainly gave chips then I’m sure I’ve heard before, but had forgotten. And they are necessary to understand the whole process. Your simple style of teaching and expressive way of speaking, really helps me understand more why and how to paint to get the biggest bang for my efforts.

Thank you so much.. very clear and understandable.. But what makes it so very much better is the real life demo of you mixing the colors and applying them!! For the very 1st time I got to "SEE" the shadow color. Now I KNOW the Theory AND how to "apply ' it :))

Thank you, Dianne, for all the hard work that you must put into all these very helpful videos. They are so professionally executed. Can you please try to explain how to use pre-mixed grays as a base for controlling color values? I believe that Scott Christensen, amongst others, uses this method.

Love your site. You explain things so clearly without tons of extraneous and irrelevant material so that I never fail to pick up helpful aids for the subject being considered. So professional but at the same time pleasant and informative. A great combination indeed!
