The riff to this song is from the song “The Funeral” by Band of Horses. I’d bet that was no coincidence because the two songs share a common motif—an ill-fated relationship which began and ended on broken communication; things we should have noticed, mentioned, talked about, etc., but didn’t. We looked away, ignored it, told ourselves it will come up one day eventually and we don’t need to push it, because we feared saying something might ruin everything, Ironically, that’s the very reason it ends, and when it does, we look back on all the things we feel we should have said, like maybe if we had things would have turned out differently. But our hearts know, if they had wanted to know, they would have asked. They didn’t ask because they didn’t care, they already had all they wanted.
