Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election speech in the town of Banswara in southern Rajasthan on Sunday has raised controversy over his references to Muslims as ‘infiltrators’.

Modi claimed that if the opposition led by the Congress party came to power it would distribute the country’s wealth among “those who have more children” in an apparent reference to Muslims.

India’s election code prohibits parties and politicians from delivering speeches that exacerbate religious or caste divides.
