What's the real difference between making music as a hobby vs making music as a career? I explain the pros and cons of each in this video.

Thank you for this, cause I’ve been stressing about “making it” somewhere with music, wherever that is, for quite some time. But from this, I’m now convinced that I need to enjoy my process more, and if trying for a career in music stresses me out at the thought of it, then I may be happier with it just being a hobby. Something to consider, appreciate it.

Great breakdown. I've struggled between having career aspirations or just doing it as a hobby. As time rolls on, I've relegated it to a hobby but I think that's better. I realized over time there were so many other things I loved as much (or more) than music, and doing it as a hobby just made more sense.

I make music for myself. I love rapping and at one time I wanted to go professional, then slowly realized that it was unlikely to happen, especially given my speech impediment makes it hard to understand me at times. But nonetheless I never stopped writing songs and recording for the simple pleasure of it, and hopefully I can continue doing it for a long time to come.

Yeah I've definitely been doing music as a hobby. I put some music on Bandcamp and I got a little bit of money from it which is cool, but I just make music to make music, like if I wasn't on youtube I'd still be trying to come up with cool sounds just for myself lol

All that being said if the opportunity to make money out of music came along, I wouldn't turn it down right away lol
