QUICK LINKS - This radio is STILL around it seems!

Some of the items coming out of China are interesting. They are cheaply made and sold. I owned a Baofeng UV5r. I used it, played with it but it died one day. Would not turn on any longer. It claimed 5 watts but I think that is rather high. It did better on .70 cm than 2 meters. I think some people are confusing the new license free frequencies with the old CB in translation. Never had FRS and MURS back in the day. I rather wish Baofeng did make an 11 meter small unit. However no plans now to waste any more money on their plastic/electronic toys.

Well, calling it a CB radio could technically be correct. You fail to recognise Australia has UHF CB radio which is 477mhz, not just 11m.

One CAN actually buy an 8 watt UV5-R, advertised as "Tri-power", it actually IS 8 watt, but only after two or three charges, which is important. I usually buy my stuff from ebay, which is safer. Now you really don't want to hear about my recent purchase, a Baofeng UV-9R Plus; "15 watts output with an 8000 mah battery" Except it's 6.8 watts. The battery looks slightly fatter than the usual 1800, but I wager it's NOT "8000 mah" I kept it for a laugh 😅
