The Heathkit V7-A Quick teardown and inspection for Frank

This one is going out as a gift, I wanted to make sure the device was sound before a restoration was attempted so I conducted an inspection and made a standard first step video.

5:18 Selenium Rectifier. I hope Frank swapped it out for a 1N4004 diode.
Selenium and it’s smoke can smell up a shop if it decides to fail. That, and it’s fumes are toxic.

I would like to talk with you about my from V7A, my name is Ron Thomson, this my first vtvm I got to work on tube radio, The foil for my light bulb was already pulled lose I super glue the coil neck but I wanted to put in Ames bulb the other wasn't that bright, but I pulled the coil lose again this time after the super glue dries I going to put epoxy all around it, have you or any of your fans run into this problem, I no this video is three years old but if you have the time I would like to ask you a couple of questions, I am on messenger .either way of you or anyone has one of these and wouldn't mind answer a coulple.of question about it I would be grateful .other then my cool problem mine looks pretty clean inside, I will be ordering a capacitor on top a 16 Mrs at 150volts, the only thing I have found is 22 Mrs at 250 volts I figure that should work ?

I am speechless which is rare. This VTVM is in perfect condition and, is the same model I used in my first electronics classes. THANK YOU Very Much Jordan
